Day 136 (May 23th) – Kunnanura WA
Was planning to leave Kunnanura today but had issues with the drainage plug in my car radiator so had to extend by another day to find seals which would stop the leak. Luckily a wrecker had a new drain plug and the local engineering place had a seal. Visited Ivanhoe crossing int he afternoon.
Day 137 (May 24th) – Kunnanura, WA to Lake Argyle Spillway Freecamp, WA
Drove to lake Argyle in the morning. Took Lake Argyle cruise which included lunch, swam in infinity pool and then camped on the spillway.
Day 138 (May 25th) – Lake Argyle Spillway Freecamp, WA to Mathison Rest Area, NT
Big day driving for most of it. Stopped at Victoria river roadhouse for a break (we’d stayed here on our last trip). Arrived at the rest stop late afternoon – met some of the other travelers and had a chat with them after dinner.
Day 139 (May 26th) – Mathison Rest Area, NT to Katherine, NT
Drove the short distance to Katherine in the morning. Restocked the food and petrol and checked into the riverview caravan park. Went for a swim in the hot springs which were just behind the caravan park. Made a quick visit to the night market after dinner.
Day 140 (May 27th) – Katherine, NT
Spent the day relaxing, we rode into town, had an icecream and then went swimming in the hot springs again!
Day 141 (May 28th) – Katherine, NT
Visited Katherine Gorge, instead of doing a cruise we decided to do a walk and catch the ferry (same boat as the cruise) back. Was a pretty tough 8km day and the kids (and us) were exhausted.
Day 142 (May 29th) – Katherine, NT to Bachelor, NT
Left Katherine in the morning, stopped at Edith falls for a swim. Hiked the loop to the top pools and went for a swim there. Drove to Bachelor where we checked into the Banyan Tree Caravan park.
