Week 28 – Camooweal, QLD to Gregory River, QLD

Day 185 (11th July) – Camooweal, QLD to Clem Walton Park, QLD

Continued towards Mt Isa in the morning. Filled up with petrol and got a few essential items from Mt Isa then continued on. Went to check out Corella Dam but it was jam packed with grey nomads. Continued down the road and through a gate or 2 to find a really lovely camp on the river. Amazingly it wasn’t crowded at all!

Day 186 (12th July) – Clem Walton Park, QLD

Spent a day relaxing in this great freecamp. Luke rode his bike and the kids played games.

Day 187 (13th July) – Clem Walton Park, QLD to Burke and Wills Roadhouse, QLD

Packed up and headed to Cloncurry to refuel and restock before heading up to the Burke and Wills Roadhouse (four ways).

Day 188 (14th July) – Burke and Wills Roadhouse, QLD to Adels Grove, QLD

Spent the morning driving to Gregory river and then onto the dirt road to Adels Grove. Took us 3 hours to cover the 85kms into Adels Grove as we took it very slow. Found a spot to camp and then checked out the campgrounds.

Day 189 (15th July) –  Adels Grove, QLD

Got up early and made our way to Lawn Hill national park. We were lucky to be able to hire the second last canoe which happened to be a 3 person one. We spent two and a half hours paddling up the gorges. We did a quick walk and then headed back to Adels Grove for lunch. Spent the afternoon checking out the park and swimming.

Day 190 (16th July) – Adels Grove, QLD

Again headed to the national park. We walked to the upper gorge and back again which is about 8km. The walk was great and gave some great vantage points to see the gorges. Returned and spent the afternoon at Adels Grove again.

Day 191 (17th July) – Adels Grove, QLD to Gregory River, QLD

Made our way out of the grove back towards the Gregory River. Found a great camp on the river and spent the afternoon floating down the river and relaxing.
