Week 15 – Cape Range NP, WA to Karijini National Park, WA

Day 99 (11th April) – Cape Range NP

Had a quick drive to yardie creek to see what the camp was like. Turned out the gorge is quite nice – unfortunately we were wearing thongs so could only do half of it. Spent the afternoon snorkeling at lakeside which was great.

Day 100 (12th April) – Cape Range NP

Went back to Yardie Creek and did the gorge walk which we were unable to do the day before. Spent the afternoon snorkeling at Turquoise Bay which was not quite as good as the previous day at lakeside.

Day 101 (13th April) – Cape Range NP to Exmouth, WA

Snorkelled at Oyster Stacks on our way out of the park (it was the only day the tide was high enough while we were there). It was pretty amazing and well worth the visit.

On the way out we ran out of petrol, Juls had to give us a splash from his aux tank to get us to the petrol station. We had to wait at the petrol station/caravan park until they moved some computers (took about 1.5 hours). Friday the 13th eh?

Arrived at Exmouth, went for a swim and did a bit of shopping.

Day 102 (14th April) – Exmouth, WA to House Creek Rest Area, WA

Left Exmouth reasonably early, stopped heading south at Krait and Potshot memorial which gives some local history. Continued on and stopped at House Creek rest area mid afternoon (very hot) and decided to stay for the night.

Day 103 (15th April) – House Creek Rest Area, WA to Karijini National Park

Left early in the morning after hearing there was going to be a festival on at Karijini NP later in the week. Stopped in Paraburdoo for fuel and some snacks before heading on to Tom Price for lunch. Topped up with shopping and headed out to the national park. Was able to get a spot in Dales Campground pretty easily so it was a bit of a false alarm rushing there.

Day 104 (16th April) – Karijini National Park

Explored Dales Gorge including circular pool, fern pool and fortescue falls.

Day 103 (17th April) – Karijini National Park

Spent the day seeing as many of the other gorges as possible. Started with a walk into Weano Gorge including handrail pool. Then visited Joffre Gorge and Knox Gorge lookouts which would both be great to walk down into if you have the time. Took a swim in Kalamina gorge on the way back to camp.
