Week 3 Walker Flat, SA to Minlaton, SA

Day 15 (17th Jan) Walker Flat to Punyelroo

We were in for a heat wave so we headed to a powered site at the Punyelroo Caravan park. The park was really grassy and we had a huge site with plenty of room for the kids to play.

Day 16/17 (18th and 19th Jan) – Punyelroo

Hot Hot Hot – 43 and 46 degrees – We spent the days going from air conditioned caravan to swim in the Murray and back. Did a trip to get groceries from Swan Reach Nildottie

Day 18 (20th Jan) – Punyelroo, SA to Parham, SA

Today was going to be another hot day so we got away early. Glad we left early as the road got pretty steep and twisty. Stopped in before lunch at a farmers market in the Barossa Valley which Crystal enjoyed. Caught up with shopping in Gawler, stopped by St Kilda which had a massive playground and then continued on to a free camp in Parham.

Day 19 (21st Jan) – Parham, SA

Checked out Parham, including the “jinkers” which the locals use to get their boats in and out due to the tide. Attempted to find crabs but wasn’t successful. Visited Webb Beach down the road.

Day 20 (22nd Jan) Parham, SA to The Gap Campground, SA

We left Parham in the morning and headed to Kadina where we stocked up on food and petrol and headed into the Yorke Peninsular. We got a council camping permit which enabled us to camp on any of 12 designated sites. We headed into The Gap campground. The road was quite rough but the camp was very quiet and right on the beach.

Day 21 (23rd Jan) The Gap Campground to Barker Rocks Campground, SA

Decided to keep moving and traveled to travel to Barkers Rocks. We stopped off at a giant teddy bear made from hay. We ate lunch at a bakery which was a treat for us. Crystal has a shower at the local toilets and washer her hair. We headed into Barkers rocks on a ridiculously corrugated road.
